There are many reasons for a woman to disappear. Sara Davis has been in hiding for two years now, not because she is a victim, but because she has something to protect. Quinn Rafferty has learned not to let many people get close to him. As a bounty hunter, he's used to dealing with the underbelly of society, that and his past keep his expectations of humanity low. When the sexy new neighbor moves in, he can't help but be drawn to her, he wants to solve all her mysteries.
When Sara becomes Quinn's new assignment in a missing persons case, he finds that things are more tangled than he imagined. A menace threatens her that he cannot solve if she won't open up to him. Her unwillingness to divulge her charade could destroy their fragile relationship. Leaving them with naught but broken hearts.
Another fabulous work from Shiloh Walker, she has quickly shot up to be one of my absolute must have auto-buys. BROKEN is another testament of why I will NOT miss her books. I was first introduced to Quinn in Luke and Devon's story FRAGILE, were he clearly stood out as a character that needed his tale old.
What I loved the most about Quinn and Sara's book is well, not only did they have an explosive chemistry-their passion fairly sizzled, but also that their relationship and feelings for each other was not instantaneous, sure the desire was their right from the first meeting, but their emotions didn't quickly move into the “I love you” stage, they had too work to get there.
Quinn had terrible childhood experiences and the only woman he'd allowed to get close to prior to Sara had died an awful death, which Quinn blamed himself for. He had a LOT of things to work out before he could free himself to love. Both Quinn and Sara had to work through their trust issues, not really and easy task. I would have liked to have actually met and seen more of the reason Sara was in hiding, there was some mention that things were okay and moving forward, but it kinda felt like a loose end to me.
I am already counting down the days (months) to Shiloh Walkers next release, VEIL OF SHADOWS, which doesn't come out until September!!! I guess I will have to content myself with rereading her back list until then.
