About this ebook

The latest from Ann Brashares, the New York Times bestselling author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, a magical story of reincarnation and a love that lasts more than a lifetime

Daniel has spent centuries falling in love with the same girl. Life after life, crossing continents and dynasties, he and Sophia (despite her changing name and form) have been drawn together-and he remembers it all. For all the times that he and Sophia have been connected throughout history, they have also been torn painfully, fatally, apart.

But just when Sophia (now "Lucy" in the present) finally awakens to the secret of their shared past, the mysterious force that has always separated them reappears. Ultimately, they must come to understand what stands in the way of their love if they are ever to spend a lifetime together.

The first chapter of Ann Brashares, "My Name Is Memory", is like any other young adult novel. Girl crushes over aloof, mysterious guy. Yawn. Chapter two takes us back many centuries to the beginning of mysterious guy's life. Now I'm awake. Although I found parts of the story a bit slow it quickly gained momentum and suspense. Interwoven throughout a love story that spans centuries is a very powerful and unnerving message of Metaphysics. Anyone who has an interest in reincarnation will definitely enjoy this book.

I loved reading the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series when I was a teenager. So when I saw that Ann had written another book, I was all too exited! But I must say this book was somewhat good and somewhat not. First of all, I want to say that I have never read Fallen by Lauren Kate, but I admit they seem to have many similarities from what I've seen about her book. The book starts off very slowly. It took me about 10 chapters to really get into it. I really wanted to try and read it because I had loved the others books she had written. So I gave it a chance and finally, it started to be interesting and I couldn't stop. The book was a bit confusing at times because of all the changes: the narrator, the timeline, the names of people who reincarnated... But it was still very interested to find out how Lucy would find Daniel and if she would. Would one of them die before? I was too curious to put it down. Finally, I got to the end. I was very disappointed because it was a typical ending of a love story, but it left an uneasy feeling. You don't really know what happens between the two of them... You're just left of wondering. That's why I'm hoping there will be a second one.
