About this ebook

The account of one of the deadliest and most mysterious tragedies in mountaineering history-the 2008 K2 disaster.

One Mountain Thousand Summits reveals the true story of the K2 tragedy that claimed the lives of eleven men. Based on his numerous trips to Nepal and in-depth interviews he conducted with the survivors, the families of the lost climbers, and the Sherpa guides whose heroic efforts saved the lives of at least four climbers, Freddie Wilkinson's narrative uncovers what actually occurred on the mountain, while delivering a criticism of the mainstream press's incomplete coverage of the event, and an insightful look into the lives of the six Sherpas who were involved.

Fantastic piece of writing, on a very serious mountaineering expedition. Trying to get the truth out there was not an easy job but thanks to Mr Wilkinsons great work I think its out....

I enjoyed reading this book up until about 80% in. At that point the author incorporated a whole bunch of information that came out of the blue, and lacked context. Up until this point, it was somewhat disjointed, but readable. The story starts on August 2nd, 2008, and then jumps back in time, then forward, and by the time we get to the story at hand, I was somewhat lost. How did the author finally get Tsering to tell his story? What was the purpose of telling how Victoria thought she was defrauded? Only the Shadow knows, and he may have even tied to this story... Or maybe not.
