Good plot. Not as dark as in previous review.
I'm glad I read this. Well written with clever dialogue and plot. A fun read.
War of the roses in a historical setting
I really wanted to love this book. The premise was excellent the execution was flawed. I like reading romance novels for the romance ... Well this it ain't it! It was taming of the shrew and war of the roses rolled into a hot screeching mess of argument after argument that I guess was supposed to make us believe that they were passionately in love beneath the anger and resentment. Whatever! I was very disappointed in the book. I honestly thought it would be a hot passionate book of seduction, but it really wasn't. Too much angst and not nearly enough romance. Too much arguing and fighting not nearly enough seduction. I'd give it 2.5 stars, I didn't like it, but the idea was original enough, as well as the opening chapter which is why I bought the darn thing! I feel like a bait and switch.
