I enjoyed the stories and characters, picturing some things in my mind, and recalling some of these places at Fort Hood & in Killeen. My parents have told me stories of life at Fort Hood. My only wish about this book is the end of each story to be told. It leaves a lot to the imagination, which may have been the author's intent, but i got to "know" the characters and wanted to know what happened. Good read though!

The characters in this series of short stories stayed with me. Fallon manages to weave together the different men and their wives that are stationed at Ft. Hood, manages to show the fallout from a single attack. Each story stands on its own, but taken together, this book is extremely powerful.

I would love to read this book. I used to live in ft.hood so it seem interesting to me
About the author
Siobhan Fallon is the author of the novel The Confusion of Languages and the short story collection You Know When the Men Are Gone, which won the PEN Center USA Literary Award in Fiction, the Indies Choice Honor Award, and the Texas Institute of Letters Award for First Fiction. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post Magazine, Woman’s Day, Good Housekeeping, Military Spouse, The Huffington Post, and NPR’s Morning Edition, among others. She and her family moved to Jordan in 2011, and they currently live in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
