Publisher Description

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison—a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against—an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Alec was great… Jamie not so much.

Well written mostly and the love story was sweet between Alec and Jamie. Lots of passion, lots of heart melting moments especially from Alec who was a hard Scottish warrior. However, I didn’t really like Jamie… her supposed stubbornness and constant questioning of Alec (and bickering) was annoying. Literally anything he told her to do, she argued. The author tried to make it seem like her “courageous spirit” made Alec love her more, but I was annoyed for him. She was also what they call “a pick me girl” constantly trying to show off. Annoying. Another thing I didn’t enjoy was the long drawn out conversations that were all basically the same. Jamie trying to get compliments from Alec. Mainly, I enjoyed Alec and his clan though. They were funny.

Exactly what a historical romance ought to be!

Charming, amusing, silly, romantic, steamy, ridiculous and utterly inappropriate for our modern times… everything a historical romance ought to be👌🏾💕
