About this ebook

"Sweet, tender, and true!" - Laurie Halse Anderson

Jesse cuts her own hair with a Swiss Army knife. She wears big green fisherman's boots. She's the founding (and only) member of NOLAW, the National Organization to Liberate All Weirdos. Emily wears sweaters with faux pearl buttons. She's vice president of the student council. She has a boyfriend.

These two girls have nothing in common, except the passionate "private time" they share every Tuesday afternoon. Jesse wishes their relationship could be out in the open, but Emily feels she has too much to lose. When they find themselves on opposite sides of a heated school conflict, they each have to decide what's more important: what you believe in, or the one you love?

This isn't a love story or even the beloved staple of GLBTQ YA books - a coming out story. There are plenty of other books that tell those stories quite well. No, this book is anything but typical in that it isn't just about finding out who you are and what you believe in, its about seeing different sides of the same situation only to find it wasn't the same situation at all.

The book is more centered around activism. It wasn't that entertaining and it wasn't exactly about lgbt youth. The writing isn't that great and it doesn't have a good ending. Yes, the reader is supposed to picture what comes next, but there's not a lot to work with.
