About this ebook

Jane is a very good girl. But #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz shows that appearances can be deceiving—in a deadly way...

She appears out of nowhere, a beautiful teenage girl in the middle of traffic on a busy day. Paul and Carol Tracy are drawn to her—she's the child they never thought they could have. But then Carol's nightmares begin—the ghastly sounds in the night...the bloody face in the mirror...the razor-sharp ax.

Jane can't remember her past. And as Carol attempts to help her uncover who she was, she has no idea of the horrors that await...

I will agree with one other reviewer in that Dean Koontz writes marvelously on many occasions....this not one of those occasions. Many well written novels follow a pattern where it takes time to develop a theme or story line and the author continues her/his high level of craft until the end of the book. This novel follow a bell curve of quality....i.e. the story line is rushed and quality of writing falls off precipitously toward the last of the novel.

The story might seem familiar - a lot of authors love this kind of stories. But this one is very original. What I love most about this book (as for many others by Dean Koontz) is these characters. When you read the book, you almost see these people, you start loving or hating them, you go through the story with them.

Terrible! Just left hanging at the end. I'm through with books by Dean Koontz. Read all of them so far,but I'm finding that one is a repeat of another, with different character names.
