About this ebook

A completely updated and revised edition that provides comfort, information, strategies, and advice for those living with lupus.

There is no cure for lupus, so a diagnosis of this potentially debilitating autoimmune disorder is understandably disquieting. This new edition of Coping with Lupus answers all the important questions one might have and offers practical coping strategies to help those with lupus live their lives to the fullest.

Dr. Robert Phillips, the founder and director of the Center for Coping, lends his expertise in dealing with the psychological aspects of chronic health problems to address a range of issues, including:

  • The medical facts-what lupus is, and how it is diagnosed and treated
  • Medications, nonmedical pain-control methods, exercise, and diet
  • Lifestyle changes to maintain optimal physical and emotional health
  • Coping strategies for virtually every facet of living with lupus

Informative and extremely helpful! I wasw diagnosed with SLE in 2003 and at the time there was not much information out there to help you understand what was happening or for your family/friends to understand and cope. This was one of the first books I read with my family. Now I share this book with friends, caregivers, and sometimes medical providers who have not dealt with Lupus patients. It has been extremely helpful!

A very comprehensive guide to the practicalities of dealing with lupus. It is a great, easy to read, resource for anyone who has lupus or is dealing with them on a regular basis. I'm thinking of gifting this to my boss and closest co-workers as they often ask questions about how they can help me when I am not doing so well and I may not be so coherent at the time. I'd love the authors to review the dietary section and to cover lupus and the microbiome with some of the newer research in these areas since this version was published (2012).
