Publisher Description

In this novel in the New York Times bestselling Bibliophile Mystery series, book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright visits California Wine Country where she uncovers murder and intrigue...

While Brooklyn has temporarily relocated to her parents’ place in Sonoma, she attends an excavation of the caves hidden deep under their commune. A room is unearthed, revealing artwork, rare books, cases of wine, a chest of jewelry...and a perfectly mummified body. A closer examination of the murdered man’s possessions reveals a valuable first edition of Jules Verne’s A Journey to the Center of the Earth containing a secret treasure map.

Word of the explosive find draws in reporters, art appraisers, and questions.  After a new presence threatens the town’s peace, it’s clear that not all crime is buried in the past. So Brooklyn decides to do a little excavating of her own and solve the mystery of the treasure before anyone else is written off...

Ripped from the Pages Review

Murder, Mayhem and Buried Treasure

Ripped from the Pages by Kate Carlisle excels in the three things that define a good cozy mystery series. First, it offers a great, thought-provoking whodunit that keeps the reader guessing. Second, there’s a cast of compelling characters that readers care about the series provides an opportunity to catch up with old friends . And third, fans are able to learn something whether it’s regarding a special interest, human nature or both.

In the latest installment of the Bibliophile Mysteries, “book doctor” Brooklyn Wainwright is reconnecting with family, solving a 70-year-old murder, excavating treasure and participating in some Sonoma-style wine tasting. I not only enjoyed watching the mystery unravel, but catching up with series favorites as well as the introduction of new characters kept me reading. The plot builds to a satisfying conclusion with lots of twists and turns that were thoroughly entertaining.

Ripped from the Pages provides an excellent armchair vacation for the avid mystery reader.
