About this ebook

#1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford continues his phenomenal Prey series—and “for those who think they know everything they need to know about Lucas Davenport, [Field of Prey] proves them wrong…” (Huffington Post)

On the night of the fifth of July, in Red Wing, Minnesota, a boy smelled death in a cornfield off an abandoned farm. When the county deputy took a look, he found a body stuffed in a cistern. Then another. And another. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, it was fifteen and counting, the victims killed over just as many summers, regular as clockwork.

How could this happen in a town so small without anyone noticing? And with the latest victim only two weeks dead, Davenport knows the killer is still at work, still close by. Most likely someone the folks of Red Wing see every day. Won’t they be surprised.

I have been a avid fan of John Sanford since I bought his 1st novel many years ago. However, his last 3 books are missing the fire & immediate desire to read to the last page into the early morning hours. Fields of Prey started & ended as the old Sanford. But after the 1st few pages it was as if someone else was brought in to pitch hit. I miss the old days as a team of solid detectives with Davenport firmly as the leader. Each page turned was an adventure. Come out of retirement,

I have read every one of Sandford's Lucas Davenport series. Granted, the reader should allow some poetic license. But for as much as Sandford seems to know about police procedure, it's ridiculous that he puts Letty, a teenager, smack in the middle of the story even to the extent of accompanying Lucas to crime scenes and making suggestions as to what the cops should do. In reality, Lucas wouldn't even discuss the case with her, much less allow her to go running all over the country with him.

LOVE the Prey books! The latest installment serves up and delivers the expected one-two punch. The only "let down" is having to wait for the next one! ;-)
