Wonderful smoothie recipes but big problem with the index, don't buy if an index matters to you.

Just purchased the 365 Vegan Smoothies digital book by Kathy Patalsky. After a quick scan, I was pleased to see a large number of excellent recipes, but had I known the problem with the index, I would not have purchased. (Published by Penguin, amazing they would allow this shabby index.) In the index, there is a notification at top of page one which states ""this index is for the print version", and "to find recipes in this digital version, use the search function" and "not all terms may be searchable". The book is organized by wellness themes and not by main ingredient (not unusual), so I went to the index to look up smoothie recipes where bananas were an ingredient. There were several banana recipes listed under "B". Downhill after that - the index does not meet the standards of other digital books I own.

In indexes for all the digital recipe books that I own, you can tap the print page number or the recipe title in the index and automatically be taken to the page of the digital recipe. Not possible with this book. You have to type in the title of the recipe into the search field, but even this feature functions poorly. When searching some exact titles as found in the index, I only found one quickly called "Pure Banana Shake". Second one I tried called "Banana-Cashew "Milk" Shake" could not be found; after I tried several modified searches to locate the recipe, it was finally located when I typed in only some words in the recipe name. The 3rd one I picked to search (which the index calls "Bella's Elixir") - it could not be found at all. If I really wanted to read the recipe called "Bella's Elixir", I would have to look through every page of this digital book to find it. EVEN IF searching for each recipe (listed in the index ) by typing in the recipe name functioned well (it doesn't), I still do not want to take the time to type in a recipe name (often long) in a search field

Apple should require those selling ibooks have an index that when you tap on the text in the index (or tap on the page number in the index) you will be taken automatically to the recipe or subject referenced. This is standard in the better digital books. And it seems Penguin Group USA Inc. does not mind downgrading their corporate name by releasing a book which does not meet the standards of indexes for digital books. I would ask for my $9.99 back but we all know that won't happen. To Penguin: how about re-releasing this digital book with a proper index and kindly sending me a new digital copy? I give Apple permission to give you my email address so you can let me know if you decide to re-release it.
