Publisher Description

The bestselling novel featuring the “wonderfully epic hero” (People) who inspired the hit film Jack Reacher.

Jack Reacher is an innocent bystander when he witnesses a woman being kidnapped off a Chicago street in broad daylight. In the wrong place at the wrong time, he’s kidnapped with her. Chained together, locked in the back of a stifling van, and racing across America to an unknown destination for an unknown purpose, they’re at the mercy of a group of men demanding an impossible ransom. Because this mysterious woman is worth more than Reacher ever suspected. Now he has to save them both—from the inside out—or die trying.

Great book and high octane thriller

This should have been the book that the first Jack Reacher book should’ve been based off of. It introduces the character so much better and has the right mix of mystery, action and intrigue that would have set things up well for future films. While Tom Cruise is not the ideal pick for the role, using him in this story would have worked nonetheless. I found it to be enjoyable and highly recommend it as an important book in the Jack Reacher saga.

Not going to finish

I didn’t enjoy the beginning several chapters and seriously dislike the narrator. I won’t read it anymore. Too bad, it cost a lot of money.

Not too good

I listed to this after watching the Amazon series “Reacher” but I haven’t read/listened to the first book, I can only compare it to the show. What was good about it: it kept me occupied over the past few hours. What was bad about it: a lot. the coincidences were staggering, it’s like this; in order for a modern passenger plane to crash on a normal flight seven major things have to go wrong and the pilots have to be so incompetent as to not notice it, it’s like that like 7 things went wrong in one part and we’re
Expected to believe that this guy hunted down AWOL soldiers in Afghanistan for a living and he never noticed a thing. He had a chance to escape at one part he had a chance to leave find help DRIVE AWAY and what did he do he fixed his damage and tied himself back up, right after he took forever to bury the guy he killed. It’s so annoying how obviously psychopathic the main antagonists were that you can’t take the book seriously. The man instead of swearing on a bible he swears on a book with a swastica on it. After listening to it I would say that the book is more of a political statement than a entertainment novel, it’s too obvious that the author is attempting to put “radical conservatives” into bad lighting, for someone who is trying to find a book/movie that is void of political statements or themes I found this mildly annoying. I don’t know if any of the other books are good but I think I’ll be better off without them.
