About this ebook

In the small town of River Black, Texas, sits the Triple C—a working cattle ranch that sustains the town. But it also holds painful memories and shocking secrets for the Cavanaugh brothers....

When the Cavanaugh brothers return home for their father’s funeral, they discover unexpected evidence of the old man’s surprising double life—a son named Blue, who wants the Triple C Ranch as much as they do. The eldest son, Deacon, a wealthy businessman who couldn’t wait to leave the ranch and move on with his life, is looking to use his powerful connections to stop Blue at any cost. He never expected the ranch’s forewoman, Mackenzie Byrd, to get in his way.

Mac knows Deacon means to destroy the ranch and therefore destroy her livelihood. But as the two battle for control, their attraction builds. Now Deacon is faced with the choice of a lifetime: Take down the Triple C to feed his need for revenge, or embrace the love of the one person who has broken down every barrier to his heart.

The first book in The Cavanaugh Brothers series is a mesmerizing and heart gripping read. The author has created a wonderful, heartfelt romance with four sexy cowboys that have the reader wanting to take them home and make everything better. The author keeps the reader guessing with some surprising twists and secrets being revealed add spice and depth to the story and I can’t wait to read the next one. WOW! I never imagined that cowboys could be so hot and there was something this good from Texas! I feel in love with the Cavanaugh brothers right away. Deacon is again, a complex character and driven by his past. Then he runs into Mac, who is a force of nature all her own. Laura created incredibly strong characters in both Deac and Mac, which drove the story and action. I loved both of them for different reasons. Another component that made this story so compelling was how well the "supporting" characters were. She invested time in world building and creating compelling characters you WANT to learn more about and see again. I like there is an over arching storyline for Cass (someone I wish I could really meet) and for each of the brothers. I can't wait to see more of this world and move closer to solving the mystery.

I really enjoyed this book much more than I expected to. Its vary rare that a western is as hot, as honest and is built with so much anticipation. I really enjoyed the extra character view in the story because it really helps you gain more interest in the characters, their emotions, and where they are going in the story. The personalities of both Mac and Deacon together because they play well off of eachother so well. Their interaction is heartfelt, its realistic and its downright sexy. I look forward to seeing where the series goes in the future. Laura you've roped me in!
