Poorly contrived story telling. typical bad writing fantasy of no rules/world building and just make up the next item to keep the pages going. Would probably good for teenagers, but anyone looking to enjoy a good story, stay clear. I bought this due to it being on sale with rave reviews. Just goes to show you that fans tend to overlook a lot when reviewing. I'm a few hundred pages in and I still know nothing solid about the main character I am suppose to care about. Bad writing tied to bad story telling in a poor effort to be Tolkennesk.

it's a good book, but it would be nice if Google would carry the other two books in the trilogy. sort of defeats the purpose do you only have the first book. Leaves the reader hanging and he doesn't know what to do now.

Probably my all time favorite trilogy. I've lost count of the number of times I've return to this world in the last 30 years. Still have my well worn original paperbacks.
