Publisher Description

In the grand storytelling style that is his signature, James Michener sweeps us back through time to the very beginnings of the Jewish faith, thousands of years ago. Through the predecessors of four modern men and women, we experience the entire colorful history of the Jews, including the life of the early Hebrews and their persecutions, the impact of Christianity, the Crusades, and the Spanish Inquisition, all the way to the founding of present-day Israel and the Middle-East conflict.
"A sweeping chronology filled with excitement."

One of my favorites

This book is one of my favorite novels and wonderfully takes you through the evolution of Judaism in the Middle East.

Masterful

History told in story form. Michener has become my favorite author and I can’t get enough of his perspective and multifaceted characters that represent relatable experiences of being human. Characters that can are both flawed and heroic; cold and compassionate; despaired and confident depending on the season and events of life.
I’ve read 6 books and just started my 7th. I’ll get ‘em all.
