Awesome. We live in coastal Delaware and this book really captures the feel and spirit of the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay and the Delmarva peninsula.. All of the stories ring true with the history of the area. After 50 hours, I miss it. Definitely recommend.

Great historical novel but I found the narrator to be quite irritating at times.

Chesapeake is a terrific read, and the narrator gives a slam-dunk performance. from indians to pirates to slaves, geese to oysters to soft-shell crabs, gardening to shipbuilding, and much more -- this is Michener at his best. the history is fascinating. who knew that you could write a book that takes 50 hours to read aloud, about a body of water? well, James Michener can; he does the Chesapeake Bay and all its inhabitants justice. i think that i like this book even more than i do The Source or Hawaii, and that's saying a lot. this is historical fiction the way it should be written.

If you have the time and love history told with a story you will enjoy listening to this novel.. The narrator has a great voice and lots of perseverance. I really enjoyed the humorous touches .
