Lawrence has a wonderful style of writing and the world that he has weaved has kept me engaged in that world and its characters from start to finish. I can't wait to read the next one!

The first half, or more than that, felt a bit slow and pointless because I
kept saying to myself nothing extreme or major happened. But truth be told
it is still very, very enjoyable. Bloody good it is what I mean.

A great book, but not as good as red sister to me. To me, there was more mystery and suspense in the first book, and things felt a little more polished. Still a very entertaining read.

About the author
Mark Lawrence is the author of the Broken Empire trilogy, the Red Queen's War trilogy, and the Book of the Ancestor trilogy, and a former research scientist working on artificial intelligence. He is a dual national with both British and American citizenship, and has held secret-level clearance with both governments.
