My first fantasy book and is still great 20 years later

Tamora Pierce and her Tortall series are an old favourite, and it’s lovely going back to the book that began it all. The narrator isn’t my favourite. She sometimes speaks too fast and doesn’t enunciate. The voices and the accents of the characters don’t feel quite natural. Was still able to listen and enjoy, and will listen to the sequel.

This was beautifully written and read. I think this is my favorite story read by any author to date. The story answers a lot of questions about the world, but it is more about the struggle of the main character. I enjoyed every part from dialogue to her scenery descriptions to the characters. I think anyone who reads this will be unable to help themselves as they fall in love with Alanna and her struggles.
