I will rebuild this series as many times as I need to. I read this book when I was about 10 or 11 in middle school. I had always struggled with reading, but I fell in love with Alanna and Tortall. This was the first book series I actually finished, and for that, it will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. I highly recommend this series for preteens to young adults. There's so many books and stories to this world I promise you will travel for a while ❤️

This book was my favorite as a preteen and encouraged me to stand up for myself and what I believe in. This book has influenced and informed my whole life, to the point that I named my first daughter Eowyn (the shieldmaiden from Tolkien) and if she had had a twin or if we ever have another daughter, that one will be Alanna.
