I don't get the scene where Thorne is talking on the sat phone with Lavigne, and they can both hear each other but Thorne keeps telling Lavigne that he has to push the transmit button. We can clearly hear Lavigne talking, but Thorne keeps telling him he needs to push the transmit button on the phone. so if Thorne can hear Lavigne, then does he mean Lavigne needs to push the transmit button to hear him (Thorne) talk? that sounds weird. it reminds me of the part in "Sphere" where Crichton mentions that the three primary colors are red yellow and blue. Huh. the three primary colors are red green and blue. I thought everyone knew that. Really basic. 2 minutes of research would have proved that big 'oops'. and I guess his editor didn't know that basic fact either. that said, Crichton's research is usually spot on. but the RGB thing any kind with a prism can learn. weird. anyway, good book. the audio is a bit low quality too

Excellent reader, they story starts very well with mystery and some traces of Lovecraft's horror. However as the storyline develops in the island it seems to get silly (ex: a 10 year old shooting a large sniper rifle from a moving motorcycle in the jungle, or a researcher lifting a full grown man with one arm over a cliff, etc). As the end of the book neared more of the above happens and I just felt like I was reading a comic book hence I didn't finish it. (Got to around 80% completion)

Great piece of adventure! It takes its time to get to the adventurous stuff but once it happens, it is basiclly nonstop action and suspense!
