Unabridged Audiobook
Sloane Crosley shows promise but she isn't quite a great writer yet. It's tough to make an entire book of navel-gazing essays interesting and she almost pulls it off - but not quite. Ultimately she has essay after essay of stories involving her personal life which aren't quite funny, aren't quite interesting, aren't quite enlightening. Her attitude througout is a smirk which is at the same time self-satisifed and also pessimistic. A few essays like that is fine, but after a while it's a bit grating. Also, as a reader, even of her own works, she's only "ok." Not great. But despite that, I think she could mature a bit as a writer and get better, so there's hope.
