My first exposure to audio books was this book in 1991 on a cross-country drive from California to Charleston SC for my Grandmother's funeral. My dad needed something to keep him awake during the long drive across Texas - So, he purchased Dean Koontz's Midnight on audio & that book surely did that, and more. By the time we reached Dallas, I'd become a die-hard Dean Koontz fan. After which I added many other Koontz books to my shelf, WHISPERS being one of my absolute favorites. WHISPERS literally scared the sleep out of me - for days while reading it, I just could not sleep. The story is not scary per se, but the situation is chilling and unnerving to say the least. I will not say more but if you've never read WHISPERS, please do, but be ready to be very jumpy for awhile afterward. ~Aye

My least favorite by Koontz. I've loved almost every one of his books but this was dated and too "normal" in a sad, sadistic way.
