About this ebook

They were the chosen ones--and the ones to be the best. Never before had the United States given so select a group of fighting men such punishing preparation. Now they were heading for their ultimate test of skill and nerve and sacrifice, in a war unlike any they or their country had ever fought before...in a land that most of America still knew nothing about...Vietnam.

I'm two thirds through. I'm wondering how anyone could give this five stars? Hundreds of pages prattle on and on and on about nothing. Stuff like 'the second airplane landed 30 seconds after the first airplane. The larger taxied to the terminal before the smaller while the ground controller gave instructions to each pilot. One of the pilots, a young German, had eaten lunch two hours earlier. The colonel, who spoke flawless unaccented German, had not eaten yet. He was reading the Tribute, a thin French newspaper that reported much of the same news covered by the New York Times'. Now I'm 3/4ths through. Someone its taking a shower and wondering what clothes to wear. That's enough. I can't stand any more. The 450 pages I've read so far could have been 100 pages. No joke. Maybe the last 50 pages are awesome, but I'll never know. I'm done.
