Two Can Keep a Secret

oh how school-setting mystery with a killer with a specific type of victims! the title says it all. i like how it started. i like how there are many points of view though sometimes i find it confusing but it helps understanding all the perspectives of the characters. i like how it gives anticipation for what will happen next. i also like the pop culture references. honestly, i was about to just give it 3 stars. i mean, i like the plot and twists but for the climax, i don't even know which part is the climax because i don't feel the goosebumps-all-over type of climax. but the twist, oh boy, is amazing, especially the last line. that makes me give it another star. the last line is bone-chilling. i pause for a while, i don't know how long, thinking about that line. and i'll keep thinking about it for days.

I will say, this book was not nearly as thrilling as one of us is lying, but not comparing the two, this book was excellent on it's own. some pros: and absolutely wonderful book, it keeps you engaged, not quite 300 pages so a quick read, and a nice quick pace that keeps you on your toes as new evidence is introduced. some cons: the twists dont hit as hard as her first book and are a bit predictable (maybe I watch too much law & order:svu though), halfway through it feels like ezra and mia are forgotten as characters (less detective twins than I'd hoped), the teen girl obsessed with true crime was a bit overdone this year in writing (as well as just weirdos fetishizing serial killers this year) and I kinda found ellery to be annoying near the end.... All in all a good book, I dont think I'd read it again, but that's nothing really new for me.

Karen does it again! I loved, One of Us is Lying. I love how detailed her writing is, I felt like I personally knew each character. I could not put this book down. It's a MUST read!
