About this ebook

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • WATCH THE EMMY-NOMINATED NETFLIX ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY • OPRAH’S BOOK CLUB PICK • NAACP IMAGE AWARD WINNER • ONE OF ESSENCE’S 50 MOST IMPACTFUL BLACK BOOKS OF THE PAST 50 YEARS

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.

In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

Just no. Apparently you can hate other first ladies, talk bad about them, hate on them, and it is just freedom of expression. If you dont fawn all over michelle, you're racist. Grow up. I watched her for 8 years with her nasty attitude, snubbing people she felt better than, and ruin the country with her husband. Some book that is probably mostly fiction is just more money grubbing greed from these crooks. Go away, your time is over, Mikey!

At first I was excited to get this book. But while at a bookstore. I flipped through the pages. Immediately I lost interest. I gave it 4 stars at first, now it gets one. What is she actually becoming? She became when she was first lady for eight years. Use to be my inspiration no longer is. No troll here just disappointed in her book. Just because you're positive about her book. Does not mean that I have to be after my evaluation of it. Please stop with the hate and name calling.. Not everyone on here is a troll or dislikes her.

It seams very apparent that if you aren’t fawning over the book you must be a racist bigot conservative. And if you are fawning it is clear what your IQ is or your own bias. It is sad that the first black president was such a failure and like this book most of what presidents do is truly done by an army of others that push their agenda. The book to me was meh! It was clearly not written by Michelle and it makes me sad that people are so polarized. When I voted for Obama is was because he had a unifying message by like most things Obama, what he said clearly wasn’t what he did. And I feel that this book has the same arrogance. Lots of cute words but it lacked truth in action. Sad really. I wouldn’t bother with it again.
