A Great Overview
This book is full of short stories composed by the late Zinn during the periods of Civli Rights, Vietnam, and there after. Since it is an anthology of past works, it is not meant to be read straight through like most books. The earliest stories recount his experiences of living and traveling across the south, writing and journalizing the Black experience of Jim Crow during this period of struggle, which I found to be quite riveting and breathtaking. For most readers never lived through or witnessed such an experience, these stories do a great job of bring history to life. If you have any interest in learning about American History circa the late 1950s and forward, this book is very much for you!
