Great Historical view of our Country's state as Lincoln rose to political power. Robert C. White, Jr. gives the reader a excellent view of how President Lincoln's rise came from who he was and rose to the top by what he did and his view of hope, which came from our founding fathers foundation which they established with the Declaration of Independence.
This book gives the tempo of the Nation's ups and downs, both politically and economically, during the youth of our budding nation.

About the author
Ronald C. White, Jr., is the author of two bestselling books on Abraham Lincoln: The Eloquent President and Lincoln’s Greatest Speech, a New York Times Notable Book. White earned his Ph.D. at Princeton and has lectured on Lincoln at hundreds of universities and organizations, and at Gettysburg and the White House. He is a Fellow at the Huntington Library and a Visiting Professor of History at UCLA. He lives with his wife, Cynthia, in La Cañada, California.
