I enjoyed reading this book. Lisa creates a world and tells a completely believable story. This hitorical novel is both informative and emotion evoking. I will be starting Dreams of Joy today

Shanghai Girls is a great read from start to finish. Because it is told from a character's point of view, you are able to form an emotional connection with the story. Some of the characters and many of the events are based in reality, so you see what it was like to live as a Chinese person in this era. The relationship between the two sisters is natural and spirited. Lisa See is a brilliant author, and it shows in this work.

An amazing read showing another culture of women and all the vices they use. This portals these 2 young women as very strong.

Lisa See is the New York Times bestselling author of Peony in Love, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Flower Net (an Edgar Award nominee), The Interior, and Dragon Bones, as well as the critically acclaimed memoir On Gold Mountain.
