About this ebook

Includes a sneak peek of Undoctored—the new book from Dr. Davis!

In this #1 New York Times bestseller, a renowned cardiologist explains how eliminating wheat from our diets can prevent fat storage, shrink unsightly bulges, and reverse myriad health problems.

Every day, over 200 million Americans consume food products made of wheat. As a result, over 100 million of them experience some form of adverse health effect, ranging from minor rashes and high blood sugar to the unattractive stomach bulges that preventive cardiologist William Davis calls "wheat bellies." According to Davis, that excess fat has nothing to do with gluttony, sloth, or too much butter: It's due to the whole grain wraps we eat for lunch.

After witnessing over 2,000 patients regain their health after giving up wheat, Davis reached the disturbing conclusion that wheat is the single largest contributor to the nationwide obesity epidemic—and its elimination is key to dramatic weight loss and optimal health. In Wheat Belly, Davis exposes the harmful effects of what is actually a product of genetic tinkering and agribusiness being sold to the American public as "wheat"—and provides readers with a user-friendly, step-by-step plan to navigate a new, wheat-free lifestyle.

Informed by cutting-edge science and nutrition, along with case studies from men and women who have experienced life-changing transformations in their health after waving goodbye to wheat, Wheat Belly is an illuminating look at what is truly making Americans sick and an action plan to clear our plates of this seemingly benign ingredient.

Well written, but total b.s. I tried the fad. I actually worked out and was wheat free for one month. No change 7 lb loss. Took one month off of dieting and working out. I did continue to walk and or run no weight lifting and I gained it all back plus 12 wow. Next month did a low cal low carb and worked out. Lost 17 lb. So there you go.....you're welcome.

This is a really good book. Very scientific, sometimes boring to read as it goes way too deep on the details, but it is a must to all of those who still believe on whole wheat products as a synonym for healthy food. I just don't think it covers all body types, the low carb craze is not necessarily healthy for an athlete with loe body fat who must ingest loads of calories and likes some treats here and there.

Although the title of the book certainly caught my attention as I need to lose weight, as a Type 2 diabetic, the chapter on high blood sugar really struck home. I know from my own experience, that a couple of slices of 12 grain whole grain bread, made my blood sugar levels soar. After eliminating all wheat products, within days my blood sugars dropped significantly, I had no cravings whatsoever, and thereafter started losing at least 2 lbs a week while eating plenty of fruits, and vegetables, protein shakes and NEVER GOING HUNGRY! I feel great and will keep up this regime, and cannot stop telling everyone about this remarkable book. I certainly exercise, however, experts say losing weight is 80% determined by what you eat. Not all calories are equal, and to lose a substantial amount of weight, you would have to exercise like crazy as they do on "The Biggest Loser". Just Judy from Canada.
