About the Author
Born in Toronto, Ontario, JEANNE BEKER studied acting at the Herbert Berghoff Studio in New York, mime with Étienne Decroux in Paris, and theater at Toronto’s York University. She then landed her first media job with CBC Radio, and in 1979, she launched and cohosted the groundbreaking TV series The New Music at City TV. Beker launched the popular program Fashion Television at MuchMusic in 1985, and it is now seen in over 100 countries. She has written for numerous magazines, and started @fashion, one of the first fashion websites. By 2005, Beker also started FQ Magazine and SIR Magazine, and she is currently the co-creator and co-executive producer of Cover Stories, a syndicated documentary TV series about the behind-the-scenes workings of FQ and SIR magazines.
