New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake is back with an all-new heartwarming, small-town contemporary romance series set against the spicy southern backdrop of Louisiana's Butterfly Bayou.

Life in Dallas took a tragic turn for nurse practitioner Lila Daley. In need of a fresh start, she retreats to Papillon, Louisiana, a tiny town on the bayou. Sure she's greeted by a gator, finds herself in the middle of golf cart wars, and unwittingly adopts a scruffy dog, but Lila remains undaunted. She's focused on running the town's medical clinic, but fitting into the quirky community is harder than she imagined.

As a single dad, Sheriff Armie LaVigne embraces routine. But there is nothing routine about the town's newest resident. Lila is a gorgeous fish out of water and he’s ready to catch her. In fact, in no time at all, Armie knows Lila is the woman for him and he plans to win her heart. But when the past threatens their happiness, Armie will have to decide if he has the courage to trust Lila enough to find a true happily ever after.

Heavier Read than expected
Going into this story I was expecting a small town romance, which I did get, but I usually associate them with a lighter romance and this was WAY heavier than I expected. Maybe my perception of small town romances is wrong but I can only go on what I have read in the past and this one was very different.Lila is a nurse practitioner in Dallas Texas and after a HORRIBLE event takes place she moves to the small town of Papillon Louisiana to be closer to her sister and take over the medical practice in town. I think the only funny part of the story is the way the people in town initially treated her, the city slicker, and honestly it wasn't that funny.Armie is the town's sheriff and a single father to a sixteen year old daughter who is in a wheelchair. I really liked his daughter, even tough there were a couple of times where I didn't agree with what she was doing.Armie and Lila were interesting together, they definitely had the chemistry but they each had so much baggage I think it was hard for them to really connect as a couple for a while. While I liked this story, I didn't love it and that is because of the mind frame I had going in. When you expect something light and you're hit with a heavy subject that doesn't just go away after the first couple of chapters I like to be prepared for it. I think I would have probably rated this book higher if I had gone in knowing that it was based around a subject that is a trigger warning for some.I don't normally put spoilers in my reviews and I really don't consider this a spoiler since it happens in the first chapter but be warned. If you have been in a domestic abuse relationship this book might hit some triggers for you, it did for me and I wasn't prepared so I am putting it out there so you are prepared.I loved the secondary characters and I added all of the books to my TBR shelf that are listed already. I cannot wait for Roxie and Zep's book!Happy Reading!!!**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

I came to this series through Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series, and then I read all the Bliss books.

I enjoyed coming back to the bayou town introduced in Close Cover and finding out what happened to the last of the Daley sisters. Butterfly Bayou is a small town filled with eccentrics similar to Bliss, but without the murder.

There's no dominance in this series, no spies, no suspense plot (though there is a vengeful abusive husband whose wife the heroine helps). Nonetheless, it's a good book and a fun read with the real life conflict of a father and daughter having trouble moving past the daughter's paralysis in a tragic car accident.

If you're addicted to the hot sex of Blake's other series, this may not be the series for you. While I do miss the snarky sarcasm of her other work, this series is more down-to-earth. If you like your romance in many forms, you will likely enjoy this series, too, as Blake always tells an interesting story. I still love the spies and the suspense, and I am enjoying this series, too. If you're looking for BDSM or menage, this series will disappoint. If you're just looking for a good read with interesting characters, this is the book/series for you.

I started this book at 9 pm and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. A great set of characters in a Bayou town that made me feel like I was back in Louisiana.

I adored this book, I loved how it had the signature humor of Lexi Blake's Master's and Mercenaries series and all the emotions. I loved how she was able to make a character that I didn't like in another books into a character that I adored. The main character was portrayed in a different book as a snob and too good for others and yet this book I was able to see why she was that way, what made her the way she was. Lexi Blake did a fantastic job of making me root for her and make me feel what she was feeling.

The sheriff, whoa! He was someone I adored at the beginning of the book and, yet again, the author was able to make me so angry at him. When it was all said and done, I couldn't get enough of these characters, and all the characters from the Bayou.

I am anxiously awaiting for the next book in this series because it feels like it comes from the heart and I can't wait to see what these characters have in store for us next!

I loved this first book about Arnie and Lila. The Daley family are all there and their stories continued from the Merchants and Mercenary's series. Lila is a trauma nurse who recently moved to Louisiana and she is starting anew.

Arnie is the town Sheriff and he's alone with his daughter. They meet and have chemistry between them. The other nurse Maryanne is coming from a bad relationship. Her husband abused her. When things get bad Arnie and Lila stand together.

You will love this story whether you're new to Lexi Blake or have loved everything she written for years. There are characters that have rolled over from her Master's and Mercenaries series, and its nice to see them again. There is also some new characters that I absolutely love. Noelle, Mabel, and Zep know how to steal a scene. This book will make you laugh, cry, and possibly strangle a character from time to time, but through it all you feel every emotion. Another great read from the amazing Lexi Blake.

Lila has a tortured past, and is trying to start her life over in small town Louisiana after tragedy struck in Dallas. She is smart, funny, complicated, and 100% set in her ways. Always the one to help others and never accept help for herself. Her arrival in Papillon lets her know she is going to either make waves or make some personal changes if she wants to succeed in her new life.

Armie is a small town sheriff and single father of a teenage daughter. The big, strong sheriff has had his life changed in ways no parent ever expects. He thinks everything in his life will be same until the day he pulls over Lila Daley on her way into town. Now he has to try to find a way to make the bug city nurse fall for him.

I fell in love with the Butterfly Bayou and the city of Papillion, Louisiana in Lexi's book Close Cover. I would not wait to jump into this world again and it did not disappoint! Lila is the last Daley sibling and after a horrific trauma she decides to change things up! She is more than just the "big city" nurse practitioner coming to town to change things up, she has a story to tell once people get to know her. Armie LaVigne is the sexy sheriff who is dealing with the ups and downs of being a single dad to a teenage daughter. You will fall in love with not only this couple but the town of Papillion as well, that even comes with its own friendly alligator named Otis. Lila is a strong women who must learn to let others in and move on from her past. Armie has his own baggage to unload but knows that Lila is just the women he wants by his side. This book will make you laugh, wonder with mystery and swoon with romance. I cant wait for the next time we can travel to the magical world of Papillion, Louisiana!

Butterfly Bayou the first book of the Bayou and the romance between Lila Daley the last of the Daley's family from Masters and Mercenaries gives a journey which Lila Daley has taken from fast pace ER Hospital to a quiet town of Pallion . Her first day of trading places she runs into otis the gator and also meets the stubbornly handsome Sheriff of the town Armie LAvigne who lives to hand out speeding tickets to the tourist in exchange for new equipment in the Sheriff office.I
So when the nurse practitioner Lila Daley know as the doc in the town ruffles a few feathers with the women in town as Mabel politely says "oh lord, it's starting.Batten the Hatches" a lovely contemporary romance full of emotions high and lows highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful romance on the bayou
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 6, 2020
Leila and Armie's story is quite an emotional experience.
We first met Armie in Close cover and I have waited for his book for quite some time, coupled with the wait for Leila to join the Daley sisters in telling her own story it has been years in the anticipation.
I would never have thought about pairing her with Armie, she was such a closed off character in previous books but it was a stroke of pure genius because the story unfolds so beautifully.

No plot spoilers, the book is exactly what you would expect from the pen of Lexi Blake without any D/s or BDSM elements (which has usually been a feature of her books in the MT world of which butterfly bayou is a side step away) having said that, the sex scenes are well written and proportionate.

I will definitely be purchasing the next book in the series.

This is a new start for one of my favourite authors. Wasn't sure what to expect but quite enjoyed it, bit like Bliss in the Bayou without some of the more extreme characters. All in all I'm looking forward to the next one when I expect the characters to start settling in to their lives and finding their place in the bigger picture.
